a) when both numbers are positive what I always do is see which one is a bigger number, so for ex. if it were 3 and 11 since 11 is bigger the would be the bigger number.
b)When the situation is that both numbers are negative, what to do is pick the one that is closer to zero. Ex, if I have -2 and -5I would choose -2 as the greatest because it's the closest to zero, making it a larger number.
c) when one number is positive and one number is negative what you do is pick the positive number because positive numbers are greater then negative numbers.
2.Number lines help you compare numbers by letting you see the differences this is a little video to show you what I mean. Number lines help you by allowing you to see the difference between a number and another. for example if I had the number -5 and the number 4 I could find out the difference in between those to numbers with a number line. Just in case you didn't understand here is a little video from learn zillion to get my point across.

The rule for this type of problem I believe the rule is which ever number is larger or in other words farther away from zero is the type of number it will be. For EX if I had -16 + 4 I know that the sum is going to end up being a negative number because the biggest number (16) is a negative number.
4.what you can do is add as many zero's as you need and then separate them, for ex, a question is asking me to have 3 black chips, and 2 red chips, then it tells me subtract 4 red chips, what I can do is like i said before add as many zero's as you need red chips then smash them and finally subtract the 4 reds and you should have an answer of five positives.
Clara, as we discussed earlier, make sure that if you include a video that is not one that you made, to still explain the concept in your own words. I want to hear your understanding, not somebody else's. I need you to look back at question #3.
